Introducing: High School Spotlight Special Edition

High School Spotlight

Inquiries Journal is pleased to announce a call for submissions for our annual special issue series. With an inaugural edition released in October 2020, the next issue of the High School Spotlight will be released in Spring 2021. This series highlights the research and academic pursuits of rising high school seniors from around the globe.


What: 
The High School Spotlight is released bi-annually in the Fall and Spring and features the work of rising high school seniors from around the globe. The editorial board of Inquiries will review all submissions and select for inclusion those manuscripts that stand out through the evaluation of the following characteristics: 

  • The expression of new, provocative, or intellectually intriguing ideas.
  • Identification of a clear analytical framework.
  • Meticulous referencing of high-quality and appropriate sources.
  • Consistent use of proper grammatical and stylistic conventions.
  • Clear expression of ideas in writing that is polished and coherent.

The focus of the issue will be on topics within the social sciences, arts, and humanities.

Submission Criteria: Submissions should be between 2,500 and 8,000 words, be clearly referenced using an appropriate convention (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.), and must be submitted by a currently enrolled High School senior. We will consider papers on any topic listed under the Social Sciences, Arts, or Humanities heading (see “All Topics” dropdown in navigation bar above).

Next Submission Deadline: May 15th, 2021.

Submission Fees: None.

Publication Fee: If you paper is selected for inclusion in the edition, there will be a $175 publication fee. If your paper is accepted and you cannot afford the fee, you may apply for a fee waiver.

Planned Release Date: June, 2021.
