The focus has been on trait similarity (i.e. the &amp;ldquo;Birds of a Feather&amp;rdquo; concept) without a clear answer, with very little research supporting the &amp;ldquo;Opposites Attract&amp;rdquo; concept. Additional factors have also been noted, to include emotionality, how maladaptive traits factor into a relationship, self-esteem, and how the perception of a partner affects feelings about the relationship.
